Description:
The object of the game is very simple: change the color of every square on a grid-shaped level. This is done by surrounding the square with pencil (fountain pen/crayon) marks that the character automatically leaves on the floor when they ‘walk’. Mr. Gridley, for example, is a pencil. Everywhere you guide Mr. Gridley, he leaves a pencil line. Mrs. Gridley is a fountain pen. Little Gridley Jr. is a crayon. Once every square’s color has been changed, the level is complete.
The goal sounds easy, but there are creepies to avoid: the slightest touch will kill. Obstacles and other objects are also present that will slow you down, leaving you vulnerable. To balance the scales a little, power-ups are scattered across the level (sometimes appearing randomly) that will give you an advantage.
You are able to play as any of the three characters. Each character has their own set of levels so you can play Mr. Gridley’s levels for a while, then change over to play a few of Mrs. Gridley’s levels, switch back over to Mr. Gridley and continue on his next level. The progression is always remembered and the gameplay is always fresh and never stagnant.
